On the evening of May 8th, the village of Much Marcle came together in a moving tribute to mark Victory in Europe (VE) Day, commemorating the end of World War II in Europe. The highlight of the evening was the lighting of a commemorative beacon, a tradition observed across the UK as a symbol of peace and remembrance.
Villagers gathered as twilight settled over the Herefordshire countryside. The community stood side by side as the beacon was lit, casting a warm glow over the village. The event fostered a powerful sense of community and historical reflection.
As the flames danced into the night sky, Much Marcle paid tribute not only to those who served but also to the enduring spirit of unity that VE Day represents.
